Rev. Dr. Bishop Andre Delice Obituary

Rev. Dr. Bishop Andre D. Delice, PhD, was born on a beautiful Monday morning on October 26, 1936, in Port-de-Paix, Haiti to the parentage of the late, Jean Duvigneaud Delice and Julianne Anulus as their first and eldest son. He was nurtured in a home filled with love and care, a foundation that would shape his future endeavors. Andre's original dream was to become a priest but he made a selfless choice to go back home and take up his siblings’ care after the death of his father. His steadfast love and sacrifice for his family is evidence of his enduring commitment to them. Andre' was a profound thinker, when asked, 'What is the most significant aspect of life to you?' His response was simple yet profound: 'The Human Being,' He was always in pursuit of unraveling the mysteries of the universe, his primary source of inspiration.

Andre's Educational pursuits started in 1943 to 1951 at

l’Ecole des Frere's de l' Instruction Chre'tienne de Port-de-Paix, Haiti. Where he received his diploma from Elementary du Premier. From 1951 to 1955 he attended l Ecole Professionelle at Metiers des Peres Salesiens de Don Bos in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Where he first learned Carpentry (joiner and cabinet maker). From 1955 to 1956, at Bombardopolis, Haiti, under the jurisdiction of the Rev. Father Margella Saroche s.m.m. Andre did his Rhetoric and the Postulate for religious life. Andre' took this route because he wanted to be a priest. From 1956 to 1957 at Grand Se'minaire des Mais de Chazelle: Andre et Soire: France. Andre completed his "novitiate" (Philosophy of the religious life). From 1957 to 1960, Andre embarked on a transformative educational journey in Saint Sourest Sur Se'r en Vendee,' France. When working with the Trades Union District Council, he specialized inconstruction as well as carpentry. In 1983 he started his own Public Consulting and construction Business. His academic and professional accomplishments equipped him with a diverse skill set, including Blueprint Writing, Mathematics, Plumbing, Electricity, Carpentry, House working, Commercial Construction, Heavy Construction, Painting and Building Maintenance. Notably, he was fluent in five languages, French, Spanish, Latin, Creole, and English, a testament to his intellectual prowess and adaptability, a genuinely inspiringquality.

He is the Founder of the Community Mission Church for God’s Children, Inc.  Andre' served in various capacities throughout his career, each role a testament to his dedication and passion. His time as a Vocational Specialist at the Opportunities Industrialization Center was one of significance. This role took him to Zambia, South Africa, and Lesotho, South Africa, where he dedicated his efforts to workforce development, social justice, and economic empowerment. He studied at Liberty University, earning degrees in Philosophy and his Doctorate in Divinity on June 19, 2012. He attended Miami Dade College for security officer training and worked for the Miami Dade Election Department for 25 years. He also worked for the City of North Miami parks department and the Federal Emergency Management Agency since 1998, for more than 25 years. His goal was to establish churches, schools, housing, and water wells in Haiti to support the less fortunate. His work wasfocused on bridging the gap between individuals and future-proof employment opportunities, ensuring they were equipped with financial sustaining wages and prospects for career growth. He believed that moral and ethical behavior was deeply rooted in habits, abilities, and skills that guide our actions. He was wise, empathetic, kind, and compassionate. He had a great time watching TBN on Sundays, wrestling on Mondays and Fridays, and CNN, ABC, FOX, and USA were his favorite networks. He took pleasure in going to church, eating fresh meals every day, and giving everyone he saw a friendly nod or tilt of the hat.

In January 2020, while working in Puerto Rico, he fell while seated in a plastic chair and went back home for medical attention. His doctor advised against going back to work, due to health problems, despite his desire to heal and resume work because of the continuous operations and treatments on his eyes. He suffered from a pharmaceutical allergy in 2021, which led to a stay in the hospital that was akin to a small stroke. A developing bulge on his jaw prompted a CT scan, which revealed cancer despite negative test results. Delays in treatment approval after his change of heart resulted in difficulties during chemotherapy. He was in the hospital from December 13, 2022, until April 20, 2023. In April 2023, he moved into hospice care and stayed there for 22 days before going back home. He had 38 days of radiation therapy again in May 2023. He was taken care of at home by his family for the remainder of 2023, with sporadic trips to the doctor. He sought better care at the hospital on March 26, 2024, after complaining of a headache that three different painkillers had failed to cure. He was admitted to the ICU on April 1st while being moved to trauma. He had radiation treatment twice a day on April 3rd and 4th for thyroid cancer. The late Rev. Dr. Bishop Andre D. Delice passed away at 8:30 a.m. on April 5 at the age of 87.

Andre is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He wanted the best for his children and treated everyone as his family.
