Ael Medeus

Ael Medeus, the 4th child of the late Danis Medeus and Grace Jean Charles, was born in Carrenage-Terre Neuve, Haiti on May 18, 1940. Growing up then was not easy, but he was devoted to educating himself by going to school even where education was a challenge at the time. Soon after his primary education, he had learned the skill of becoming a tailor to provide for his family. As the pioneer of the Medeus family, Ael, "Big Dog" as he was affectionately called by his family and friends, left Haiti in the late 1960's to go to the Bahamas. Soon after his arrival, with little that he knew, he managed to take good care of his family. Even though the culture was different, Ael remained grounded. Later, he moved to the United State of America to pursue a better life. Everyone who has been in contact with Ael will tell you that he was a man of principle. He spent around 27 years working at Marriott Hotel in Marco Island. He always meant what he said, and said what he meant. Ael was a man who could be trusted. He was a man of character who was willing to live a life of integrity. He always smiled, laughed and enjoyed other people's company and wanted to live life to its fullness. On Monday October 9, 2017, Ael was admitted to the hospital for treatment. After three weeks of battling a sickness, on October 29, 2017 he passed away for eternity. Ael was the patriarch for his family. It's true that we are grieving for this massive loss, but we are happy because Ael is no longer suffering.

To everyone here today, life is short, and we are aliens on this earth; therefore, our eternity depends on the choice we make before we travel for eternity.

He leaves to cherish his memories:
