Anne-Marie Mercier Cheriza

We are here today to remember and honor our beloved Anne-Marie Mercier Cheriza affectionately known as Magda. This is not a moment to grieve but a moment to celebrate life. HER LIFE.  As you all know, she was full of radiant energy. She had a very strong presence whenever she entered any room, in fact, you can probably feel it right now. She wore a smile that could light up the darkest day.

Magda was born April 9th, 1952 in our homeland of port of prince Haiti. She was the second oldest out of 7 sisters. She attended her local private school throughout her adolescence. Here she met her husband whom she adored so much. She continued college where she became a professor at the very school she attended when younger. She loved to give back. She was well known and loved in her community. She was the woman you can go to if you needed anything. Searching for a better life while carrying her first born, Yvelyne Mercier, she found her home in Miami, Florida. In the recent years of being in Miami, she gave birth to her second daughter, Tracy Midi. Her kids were everything to her. Providing for her family was number one priority.  She was employed by Miami International Airport and worked here until her retirement.  She enjoyed her job and took pride in her work. While being in Miami, Magda, helped her sister’s migrate into the U.S from Haiti to each have their own opportunity at a better life. Magda built a foundation for the family to succeed here in the United States. Without her, our roots wouldn’t have been planted. Family was everything to her and she made sure her kids inherited this mindset. Her drive to succeed and passion for providing for her family led her to become an entrepreneur, exporting and importing between Miami and Haiti. In her spare time, she was active member of her parish of Notre Dame d’Haiti Catholic Church. As a member of her community her efforts are resulted in many food and donation drives for the less fortunate.

Her passion for family, her church, and community lives on through her daughters Tracy and Yvelyne. Her grandchildren from Yvelyne, Zion A. Zamor & Key’on B. Mena will carry these values passed down from their treasured grandmother throughout their lives. Her unconditional love will forever be felt and her memory will live on.
