Avenie M. Clark

Avenie M. Clark – warm-hearted wife, mother to many, sister, grandmother, aunt, cousin, mentor and friend – passed away on Thursday, January 25, 2024, unexpectedly as a result of health issues. Avenie was born in Port-de-Paix, Haiti on May 18, 1945. She left Haiti in hopes of a better life in 1978 and briefly resided in Nassau, Bahamas and Miami, FL. She decided to call Orlando, FL home in the early 1980’s and planted her roots. Avenie was full of life, love, humor and displayed unending energy. Her one-of-a-kind personality caught the eye of Joseph Clark and they were wedded on April 2, 1993.

Avenie is best known for praising the Lord in all circumstances, her dance moves, ability to talk with people and make friends wherever she went. Her idea of a perfect day was sitting outside talking with her family and friends. She loved gardening, sewing, making natural remedies, and helping others. She had an open-door policy and welcomed anyone into her home that needed a place to stay. She worked hard to strive for the best. She received many awards and accolades while employed at Hotel Royal and Florida Hospital. She was a devoted Christian. She was an active member of the Eglise De Dieu Hopital Par La Foi for more than 25 years. Her prayers and acts of service were truly a blessing for all that knew her. Her laugh was contagious and will be truly missed by all.

Her family was her life. Avenie is predeceased by her parents, Adissa Dorval and Celia Calixte, her husband, Joseph Clark and brother, Abner Calixte. Surviving are her siblings, Veronique Dorval, Alfred Dorval and Anem Dorval; her stepson, Joassint Alexis and his wife, Louisiane, her grandchildren, Joas, Julie, Reuben and Marschar Alexis; her great-grandchildren, and countless cousins, nieces, nephews in the Clark, Dorval, Calixte, Eugene family, and many friends who were like family.
