Camise Paul

May 2, 1954 — June 19, 2024

Camise Paul

Camise Paul was born on a beautiful Sunday on May 2nd, 1954 in Milot, Haiti to the parentage of the late Joseph Antoine Paul and Lozane Catabois as their second eldest daughter. She was nurtured in a home filled with love and affection and a solid foundation that would shape her future endeavors. All the neighbors who lived around Camise’s area would say how she would cook a big pot of food and serve everyone who lived nearby. She was always one to share whatever little that she had. Camise’s mother Lozane died early on in her 40s and her father Joseph died a couple of years soon after. After the death of the only parent, they had that remained, Camise took over the role of mom and dad to her younger siblings. Her siblings would describe her as being very driven but also very strict as well. Even though she was very strict, her siblings knew how much she loved and cared for them and would do anything in her power to make sure they didn’t need anything.

Camise’s Educational pursuits started when she studied at Chez les Soeur where she received her primary elementary school diploma. She then moved on to High School at Vokatyonelle De Milot where she eventually received her high school diploma. After receiving her High School Diploma, Camise became a professor and taught at the school of Foyer Evangelique Phillipienne De Milot for several years. Her students spoke highly of her. They also stated how strict she was, but she showed great respect to everyone. She was a friend of all, and always ready to serve. Her passion for education was evident in the countless lives she touched and the many students who still remember her fondly. After years of teaching, she became the secretary of the church Phillipienne de Milot where she also began her journey serving our Lord and savior Jesus Christ.

In the year 1991, Camise married Marcelin “Alize” Janvier, and they both decided to travel to the United States in search of a better life for themselves and their future children. After a few years together, on January 27, 1993, the couple’s lives significantly changed when they welcomed their first child, MicerlinJanvier. The year thereafter, they welcomed their second baby boy Carolin Janvier on September 28, 1994. Although Camise was content with her baby boys, she still felt incomplete without a baby girl to call her own. After undergoing 3 C-Sections previously, the hospital told Camise that her tubes would be tied so that she wouldn’t have any more children. Camise never believed that doctors had the final say, so she got on her knees and prayed to God specifically for a baby girl. A couple of months later, she had a dream where Godspoke to her and told her that he will give her that baby girl that she has been praying for, for so long. Twoweeks after that dream, Camise and Marcelin found out that she was expecting. A couple of months later, on January 16, 1996, they welcomed their only baby girl Mildrelyn Janvier. She would always tell everyone about this story and always say that Mildrelyn was God’s special child that he had given her. After the completion of her little family, Camise began to desire more for her children and her future.

She was always a go-getter. She would do whatever it is she had to do to make sure that her children had a great upbringing. She started working as a security on the night shift and would come straight from work and walk with her kids to school. She was always involved in her kid’s education and wanted nothing but the best for them. After a while, she began attending Lindsey Hopkins Technical College where she successfully passed and obtained her Certified Nursing Assistant License and started working in the field. She would remain in this profession for years and years to come. Her patients and coworkers would describe her as being a very caring and compassionate individual. She treated everyone like family, and she never felt as if the work was too much for her.

She was passionate about always helping others as well as sharing the word of God to those who would completely lost all hope. Her nurturing nature extended beyond her professional life as a mother, grandmother, and friend.

Camise would attend several crusades and church events at the Seventh Day Adventist churches with her family, always searching for a way to be closer to God. Soon, she finally decided to baptize and accept God as her one and only savior. In the year 1997, Camise started attending the church formerly known as Schekinah SDA church which is now known as Smyrne SDA church where she served as a faithful deaconess for several years. She also held numerous positions in the church such as Sabbath School Director, Director of Deaconesses, and many more. The church became a part of her family. She went to church faithfully every Saturday morning, never missing a beat. She also made sure her kids came right along with her and helped them to understand the word of God and how important it was to always have God in their lives. The church members would describe her as being a great confidante and friend, always willing to lend a helping hand. She was never too busy to lend an ear when they needed her the most. The church and God were Camise’s safe haven. She was never one toopen up to many, but she would always say to others that whatever problems or trials and tribulations that one may be subjected to, always go to God because he will never judge and will always have the final say so.

Everyone who knew Camise, knew that her children meant the world to her.

She sacrificed a lot to give them everything that they needed. On June 21st  2020, the children’s father, Marcelin Janvier passed away. Camise knew the kids now not only lacked grandparents from both sides but also now lacked a father as well so she became even more invested in her children’s lives; even more than before. Her parenting allowed the children to still feel the presence of having both parents because she wasconstantly involved in their lives through and through.

A couple of days after the celebration of her birthday on May 2nd, Camise started to feel short of breath on exertion. Camise’sdaughter brought her to the Emergency Room at Jackson Memorial Hospital to get treated. Camise remained in the hospital for 3 weeks before getting discharged. One week later, on June 19, 2024 at 9:00 AM, Camise was pronounced at Jackson North Hospital surrounded by family and friends. She passed away peacefully inher sleep into the loving arms of our Lord.
