Charlie James Thompson was born November 27, 1942, to James Lee and Savannah Williamson-Thompson, in Madison County, TN. Charlie was accepted into the presence of the Lord on April 23, 2024, at Orlando Health Hospital in Orlando, FL.

Charlie believed in God, Jesus Christ as the Son of God, and was a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Gadsden, TN.

He attended elementary school at Merry High School in Jackson, TN and high school at Central High School in Alamo, TN. He served in the United States Army. Afterwards, he met and married Josephine Peeler and was the father of Eddie Thompson, Cynthia (Thompson) Williams and Charlie Thompson Jr. Later in life, he married Thelma Lawson and raised 2 stepsons, Shelton Sampson Jr. and Ricky Starling. Charlie was employed at the Winter Garden in Bells, TN before transitioning to a career as a truck driver. He retired from CKS Trucking Company in Orlando, FL. His CB radio friends knew him as “Witch Doctor”.

Friendly, loving and kind are the best words to describe Charlie. As an avid reader, he spent much time studying history and travel. He read every volume of the Perry Mason mystery novels; as well as Jive and Ebony magazines during his teen years.

His father, mother, stepmother Opal Corley and five siblings (Lessie McGee, Cathy Martin, Henry Thompson, Arthur Thompson and Jessie Thompson) preceded him in death. He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Josephine Thompson, Jackson, TN; current wife, Thelma Thompson, Orlando, FL; sons Eddie Thompson, Humboldt, TN and Charlie Thompson Jr. (Berneda) & Cynthia Williams(Michael) both of Jackson, TN; stepsons Shelton Sampson Jr. and Ricky Starling Orlando, FL; grandchildren, Navista Bolton (Greg), Mobile, AL, Raven Thompson, Jackson, TN, Chelsea Thompson, Atlanta, GA, Latasha Thompson, Brandy Thompson, & Tedarias Thompson all of Nashville, TN, MilicahWilliams, Mikayla Williams both of Jackson, TN; 15 great grandchildren; siblings, Rev. Glenn Thompson (Alice), Johnny Thompson (Darlisha), Humboldt, TN, Clark Hicks (Sue), Jackson, TN, Ida Virginia Gardner, Harvey, IL, Martha Allen, Peggy Halton (Don), Maury City, TN, Betty Wyatt (Bobby), Carolyn Crews, Betty Gail Croom, Stacey Bold (Johnny), Vanessa Cook, all of Jackson, TN, CassandraHicks, Gadsden, TN, Lula Jordan, Chicago, IL and a host of extended relatives and friends.
