David was born on August 27, 1956 in Newark, NJ to Janet Franklin and David DuPree.
Upon graduating from high school, David joined the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War Conflict and served his country honorably from 1974 to 1978. He retired from the New York Transit Authority.
David was an active member of St. Mark AME Church (Clermont, Fl), under the leadership of Pastor Sandara Williams, and worked with various charities.
David was a devout Christian and patriot. He loved to tell jokes and have fun. He was an avid NASCAR, boxing, baseball, basketball fan; and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan for life! He loved all his family and friends. He was also very aware of all the worlds current events. When David arrives at Heaven’s Gate you can be certain the angels will say “Welcome aboard. You have served God and your family; and honored your country. You are now relieved of duty Marine. Rest now our beloved.”
On October 10th, 2008, he married the love of his life, Marie Lahens
On Wednesday, May 20, 2020, David James Franklin, loving husband and father passed away at the age of 63. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Bill McNair; father, David DuPree; and his brother, David Jacque DuPree.
He is survived by His wife; Marie Lahens - Franklin; His Children; Kelly, Charmaine, Battyna, Terrance, Vanessa, Charles Adams, Valencia , Khsandra Franklin & David Franklin, Jr; Lamont Davis; His Mother, Janet Franklin (Newark, N.J); Favorite Uncle: John DuPree (Jacksonville, Fl -who was like a brother,) His Special Nephew: Gabriel DuPree (Olathe, KS); His Grandchildren; Former Spouses: Karen Franklin, Margaret Franklin and Cindy Franklin and a host of several cousins, nieces & nephews and friends that have been affected by this loss.
