Elie Petion

Elie Petion was a man who was beloved by his children, his relatives, and his students. Elie was born in St. Louis du Sud, Haiti on May 8th 1955. He was one of 12 brothers and sisters. From a very early age, Elie loved reading and writing. In 1976, Elie relocated to the United States. He began working as a harvester in Belle Glade, FL. He eventually moved north to Pennsylvania where he would begin his journey with education. He would work all day, and go to school in the evening. He eventually obtained his bachelors degree in education and a Masters degree in educational leadership. Elie had his first child Lovely, not very long after, Elie welcomed another babygirl, Fredelyne. Elie, married Anne Marie Laurent and had 2 boys, Giscard and Nisard. Lastly, he had his final child, Bianca. During his final years, Elie was an educator for Orange County Public Schools where his students remember his stern demeanor but his vibrant smile. Elie had an energy that permeated a room but also maintained a vibrance about him that garnished respect. He was also loved by his many nieces, nephews, Godsons and Goddaughters. Elie leaves behind a whole community of students, relatives, distant and extended, as well as his 5 children, and 3 grandchildren. May he eternally rest in peace.
