Elitha Jean-Pierre

Thank you all so much for being here. It means so much to us.  The outpouring of love and support that my family has felt from everyone has been so uplifting. Thank you so much for all your prayers. I'd love to speak of our mother Elitha Jean Pierre; born March 14, 1964, in Plaisance, Haiti. Elitha was a mother of four: Gaicha, Naicha, Anabella and Guens; a housewife, hard worker, and a God-fearing woman. She loved to help others and spread the word of God.

Our mother loved all her kids individually in her own way. My brother Guens would tell me stories of how jealous he was when we were born. The way she would treat us like princesses, and till today I can tell you that has never changed. One memory I hold of my mother was when we lived in Haiti; as a baby I would always grip her skirt as she left for Port-au-Prince to purchase merchandizé. On my days off I still look forward to running errands with my mom, it was the start of my day till noon. What I urge for right now is to grip her as hard as I can and when I grieve my mother those warm memories run through my heart.

They say a bond between a mother and a son is so special it’s unexplainable; she has always shown her love towards my brother every occasion presented to her. When Guens came back from his work trip, she would call me from my room before he arrived to ask me to take her grocery shopping to make a whole feast for my brother. I loved seeing my mom's reaction when Guens came home, she had a huge smile that turned into an expression of laughter. She would constantly cling on to Guens as she proudly bragged about him being her only son, biologically.

Our mother had two other people she considered sons; Bobby who did as much as he could for my mother in her early stages of cancer. Thank you, Bobby, for your kind heart. The other is our cousin Junior, she once told me she had a dream to bring junior here to live with us before her sickness took over. I'm incredibly happy junior is here with us, he's like a brother to me.

As for my mom’s oldest daughter Anabella who did more than all of us can imagine from the beginning till the end. She had sacrificed her education to provide for us financially and emotionally. From time to time, I would always contemplate how she does it. She stayed in constant communication with my mother, calling her to what seemed to be twenty times a day to make sure our mom was okay. Anyone who should be praised the most is her. Thank you so much for everything!

Our mother is truly a daughter to a great King. To have a Godly mother was a blessing.  Naicha would always say she feels that God is watching over us because of our mother who prays for us sun up to sun down. Her prayers always followed us wherever we went. To my mother in heaven Elitha Jean Pierre, thank you for always loving us and guiding us. Though you are no longer here with us, I can still feel your love guiding us. You are always in my heart. We love you and miss you always and forever.
