Erick Metelus was born in La Gonave, Haiti, on June 29, 1975, where he started his journey through life. He was the ninth child of his parents. Erick was a great person to be around. He loved to tell jokes, he loved music and he was loveable. Throughout his life, Erick has always shown a sense of urgency. Anything he started, he would not stop until he finished it. Erick left Haiti in 1991 at the age of 16 years old, with his parents and siblings, to begin a new life in Orlando, FL. He went to school, got married and started his own family. He was the father of two lovely sons and a beautiful daughter. He enjoyed his job and took it seriously. He was known for being a hard worker. Even when he stayed up late at night, he would always show up on time for work. He made a career as a cook, and after 20 years of service, he decided to retire due to his illness. Erick went to the gym seven days a week. He was very athletic and played basketball with his sons and friends. He never thought that day would come. One day, he felt a slight soreness in his leg and went to the hospital to be evaluated, there he was diagnosed with Leukemia. Erick was a fighter; after a lengthy period of treatments, his health improved. He continued to live his life and enjoyed every moment of it. After several trips to Haiti on vacation, he brought in his wife Jorane, and she gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, his first and only daughter. Erick will be remembered as a strong and courageous man. He fought until his last breath. On Tuesday, October 10, 2017 Erick went Home to be with the Lord.
