Ida Timot, affectionately known as Ti-Da, was born on December 1, 1958 in Anse-Rouge, Haiti. She was the daughter of the late Germaine Jean and Dumasé Timot. She grew up in Anse-Rouge and later moved to Gonaïves, where she attended St. Pierre Clave De Gonaive.
After years of helping the people in her community, she developed a love for nursing. She attended and graduated from Lekol De Soeur Des Enfimyé. Her compassion and love for helping others led her to become the nurse that she was. She treated her patients with dignity, respect and compassion. She advocated for her patients and assisted them to the best of her ability, regardless of their financial circumstances.
Shortly after the birth of her first daughter Gerna in 1988, Ida migrated to the United States. It didn’t take long for her to find her way back into the nursing field, where she continued her passion for caring for others. In 1996, she gave birth to her late second daughter, Chris.
On October of 2019, Ida was diagnosed with breast cancer and given a life expectancy of 6 months. She immediately rebuked doctors’ time frame on her life and embarked on a combination of medical and holistic treatments. During that time, she stood firm on her faith, knowing that regardless of what, her eternal life was secured.
Ida loved to read her Bible, praying for and with others, spending time with family, laughing and dancing with her grandchildren, and always wearing a smile on her face. She eventually made the switch from Catholicism to Pentecostal. She was a devoted Christian and a member of Church Of God Elected. She was a loving and caring person, devoted mother, always thinking of others first. “To know her was to love her.“ Shalom Shalom!!!!
During her on own personal battle, Ida was faced with a parent’s worst nightmare, the loss of her youngest daughter Chris, on February 12, 2023. After the passing of her daughter, her health slowly declined and she peacefully passed away in her sleep on October 12, 2024.
She leaves behind a legacy of love, grace, and faith. Her passing leaves a hole in our hearts, but we take comfort in the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ. As the Bible tells us in 2 Corinthians 5:8, “To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.”
