Jean-Claude P. Cantave

Jean-Claude (J.C.) Prima Cantave was born in Croix-des-Bouquets, Haiti, on August 21, 1944, to Prima Cantave and Andre Jean. He attended the Ecole de Commerce Julien Craan, Port-au-Prince graduating in March 1968.  After graduation J.C. moved to Miami where he attended college, first at Miami-Dade Junior College then at Florida International University where he achieved a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration.

Jean-Claude also held degrees and certificates from: La Sorbonne, Paris and the University of St- Thomas, Minneapolis. A strong supporter of the Haitian-American community, J.C. spent over 40 years serving the community in a variety of roles. Jean-Claude was the founder and past president of Haitian-American Chamber of Commerce, the co-Founder & past president of United Haitian Americans of Florida (UNHAF), the founder, past president & Executive Director of Haitian-American Center for Economic and Public Affairs (HACEPA) and co-founder of the World Trade Center Haiti. He also served on the boards of the Association of Bi-National Chambers of Commerce of Florida (ABiCC), the Haitian American Historical Society, the Haitian American Association of Dade County (HACAD) and the Miami Council for International Visitors.

In addition to his work with various organizations, J.C. served the Haitian American Community as a: Real Estate Broker, Immigration Consultant, Insurance agent, Notary Public, Tax consultant, and Producer & Distributor of Haitian Music.

Jean-Claude was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Andrea.

Daughters: Michelle and Gabrielle; Brothers: Charles and Jacques; Sisters: Marie Andree and Patricia; Along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and business associates who have been affected by this lost.
