Marie F. Milice

Marie Françoise Denis Milice, our Gisèle, was born on October 3, in 1963. It was one of the happiest days for her mother Claudia Denis, Tante Co, deceased. She was giving birth to her first daughter.Her father, Lifaite Charles, also deceased, shared the same joy, the same hope, the same happiness.

Her helpful nature was revealed very early, from childhood. Gisèle participated in all social activities and brought her smileto many, her communicative laughter, her leadership and her talents as an organizer to the whole community.

She entered primary school (chez les soeurs, les Filles de la Sagesse) in her hometown, Port-de-Paix and obtained her primary school certificate at St-Benoit. The following year, she attended Lycée TertulienGuilbaud, in Port-de-Paix. Where she completed her secondary education until graduation.

Shortly after, Gisèle (Zou for many of us), will make an important person very happy: seduced by her qualities, the Reverend Pastor Jonas Isaac Milice asked her to marry him. They were married in September 1987. From this union were born two boys: Freud and Dave Milice.

She arrived in the United States in 1991. In line with her natural inclination to help others, she chose to be a nurse, specializing in pediatric care. This is surely the source of the medical vocation of Dr. Freud Milice. These choices, however, confirmed what she has always done: helping people and leading others to help. It is her desire to help that motivated her at a very young age to create the group Soleil at La Coupe. Regularly, almost every Sunday, Zou took the children of the group to visit the poorhouse in Port-de-Paix. Her generosity was evident at all times. She had a joke, a word of encouragement for everyone she came across in her community. The neighborhood football teams were never short of sponsors (for juice at halftime, fundraising for uniforms, etc.).

Furthermore, with Gisèle, the young people were always active. The recreational days that she organized have left more than one generation with wonderful memories. During these moments, we could also appreciate her great talents as a cook (chef). Zou was a genius in organization and management: she alwaysachieved miracles with few means.

As a woman of strong faith, the church was her life and her life was to serve God. Nothing would make her happier than being in church and praising God. The church was a way for her to continue her community outreach in helping the young and the poor. Along with her husband, she has helped startup multiple churches in the United States and Haiti. Her outreach continued through her mission trips in Haiti and her work with helping Haitian refugees settle in South Florida.

Marie Françoise Denis Milice, our Gisèle  went from labor to glory on May 06, 2023. Although we are saddened by this departure, our pain is greatly lessened by the certainty that she reunited with her God whom she has always loved, adored and praised with unwavering faith. Already, she rests in the peace of her creator.

In addition to her children and husband, she leaves behind her sister Esther Denis, and many grieving cousins. There are many lives Marie touched, included but not limited to the Milice Family, Denis Family, Charles Family, and so many other families. The manychurches especially Sanctified New Jerusalem Church family, Moman Beni group, Retrouvailles group and Soleil group.
