Melita Jean was born on March 2, 1950 in the vibrant town of Jean-Rabel, Haiti, she was the proud daughter of Vierjé Vertina Liberal and Charles Jean.
Taking a leap of faith, Melita embarked on a journey from the Bahamas to what she envisioned as the great states of America. Though she faced many obstacles along the way, she safely arrived in the U.S. in the early 1980’s. It wasn’t long before fate reunited her with a childhood friend, Ribel. Together they built a beautiful family, welcoming two sons: Willy Jean and Mark Joseph; and a daughter Vetisha Goudia.
Known for her immense heart and infectious spirit, Melita was the glue that held her family together. A culinary wizard in the kitchen, she infused love into every dish she prepared. Ensuring that family gatherings were always filled with laughter and warmth. She was the quintessential mother, never missing a single event in her children’s lives—always there to support, uplift, and cheer them on.
On Friday, March 7, 2025, the world lost a remarkable soul. Melita, a devoted wife and cherished grandmother to two beloved grandchildren, passed away peacefully at the age of 75. She was preceded in death by her father Charles; her mother Vertina, and her beloved husband Ribel Joseph. Her spirit will forever resonate in the hearts of those she touched.
Melita’s legacy lives on through her beloved CHILDREN: Willy Jean, Vetisha Goudia (and her husband Anthony), and Mark Joseph; her precious GRANDCHILDREN: Amauri Tropnas and Jezania Williams. Melita Jean leaves behind a tapestry of love, resilience, and cherished memories that will continue to inspire all who knew her.
