Meranise Louis, affectionately known as "Miele," was born on February 2, 1958, in Negrile, Haiti. Her parents were Louis Jean Louis and Iloria Fileus Louis. She was the fifth of ten children and shared a close, loving bond with all her siblings. From a young age, Meranise learned various ways to support her family; often working the fields on their land and selling merchandise to help make ends meet.
On October 3, 1977, Meranise gave birth to her only daughter, Fanette. A natural caregiver, she also played a key role in raising her nieces, nephews, and children from the neighborhood in rural Haiti. In 1998, Meranise and her daughter were separated when Fanette moved to the United States. However, their bond remained unbreakable.
In 2013, Fanette filed legal documents to reunite with her mother. From that moment, Meranise and Fanette were inseparable. The two spent the remainder of their time together, surrounded by love. Meranise was a loving, devoted mother and cherished her role as a grandmother and mother-in-law. She was genuinely happy to live with her daughter, son-in-law, and three grandchildren. Being with her family brought her immense joy and purpose.
She will always be remembered for her generosity, warmth, and constant concern for others. Whether she was offering a meal or asking, "Did you eat?", she never stopped thinking of others. Meranise’s kindness was boundless, and her love for Jesus Christ was unwavering throughout her life.
In her final days, Meranise expressed that everything was "God's Will." She trusted that her life was in God's hands and found peace in knowing she would soon be with the Lord. Even in her discomfort, her focus remained on her family, and she never complained about her illness or pain. She exemplified incredible strength until her last breath.
Maranise passed away peacefully on February 25, 2025 surrounded by those she loved.
