Today, we celebrate the life of Jean Joseph Serge Hector, who was affectionately known as “Sergo”.
Serge Hector departed from this life on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at Cornerstone Hospice Care Center at Health Central, Ocoee FL. Serge Hector was the son of the late Federick Hector and Wilda Prudent. Serge was born on November 19, 1938, in Port Au Prince, Haiti, where he attended Primary Catholic School. Sergo was a Taxi Driver for many years and then worked for the Orange County School District, where he retired.
Sergo left Haiti and migrated to Brooklyn NY, where he met the late Marie Liseda Laurore and shared a life together. From this union, Serge Hector Jr. and Nadine Hector were born. Sergo later met Rosela Viola Leger and married on July 8, 1988. They spent many years in Brooklyn NY and started a new life in Orlando, Florida during 1995. On June 27, 2024 “Sergo” lost his love, Rosela Hector.
Sergo loved spending time with his family and friends, drinking and sharing stories. The most memorable of all was his love of music and dancing. His style, charm and “fly guy” character was a true testament to who Sergo was. He was also there to offer help, support and encouragement no matter what challenges he faced. Sergo also dedicated his time and service as a member of the HHSO group.
Sergo’s beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of his 2 children: Jean Joseph Serge Hector Jr. and Nadine Marie-Jude Hector; His 5 Grandchildren: Deondre Parham, Lexus Parham, Tyler Hewitt, Deion Hewitt and Cleon Hewitt; His 6 Great Grandchildren: Amia Parham, Brooke Parham, Aiyanna Hewitt, Marlee Hewitt, Jahmir Hewitt and Ellie Hewitt. His admirable sister, Maryse Hector Noe. A host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, countless extended family and friends. He will be united with his late brother Roland Hector, Gerald Hector and Herve Hector.
“The most memorable people in my life will be the ones who loved me when I wasn’t very lovable”
May the Almighty God show each of us the power of his love and comfort! Rest in Peace Sergo.
