Viccelome Thomas, son of the late Genevieve Rosier and St. Louis Thomas was born on July 15, 1942 at home in Charlier, Haiti. He attended a national school near his home town after leaving home to live with his aunt Anastasia in a little village called Akaye. At a young age, 16, he became a worker on a boat that transported goods from the U.S. to other countries. Later at the age of 25 he was able to get his own boat and ultimately served in the role as the captain.
He was united in holy matrimony with Celita Charles. Thomas’s first job in the United states was construction. While there he got into a tragic accident and became blind; but this didn’t stop him from living his life to the fullest. Thomas enjoyed his life through simple pleasures; chatting with friends and family, snacking, and spending time with his nephews and nieces. He truly enjoyed stories from his great nieces and nephews. In late 2010, he moved in with his nephew Louis and his wife, Marie Flor Fleurant who cared for him. While being in their company, he shared wisdom to all who met him. As a result of his generous spirit and pleasant personality, he was loved by many. He departed peacefully on June 12, 2018, age70, at home with his loved ones in West Palm Beach, FL.
His beautiful life will forever be cherished in the lives of his children: Nixon Thomas, Minouche Thomas, Rose Andre Thomas, and Marjorie Thomas; daughter-in-law, son-in-law; five grandchildren,Brothers: Dieubon Thomas, Louis Thomas, Jacques Thomas; sisters: Jenia Thomas, Lamercie Thomas, Luciane Thomas, and Maguise Thomas. He is also survived by many of his nieces, great nieces, nephews, and great nephews that reside Canada, Florida, Haiti, and New York and a host of family members and friends.
